Team leaders, without a doubt, can be an extremely productive and lucrative tool for any recruitment company. The problem is, a bad team leader can cost you as much money as a good one can make you.
The ideal would be to have seasoned professional deliver the components required of a team leader to your recruitment team but without the added pitfalls of the unknown. Successful team leaders add value to a company by providing guidance and advice to their team without wielding the big stick of management responsibility and P&L pressure.
One of the problems with in house team leaders is who makes the best team leader? Many extremely successful consultants have been put into team leader positions and not only destroyed the motivation of their team members but also cost them serious $$ value in their own billings. This is not necessarily their fault, leading a team, if done well, needs time and effort which quite frequently when you are under pressure and need all the time you can get to dedicate to your own desks is not always possible.
