"I have used Peter on several occasions to help me further my career and always very successfully and swiftly. He is always my first port of call...  I recommend him to all of my friends and colleagues and shall continue to do so in the future." - A.M., Dalby, QLD

Team Leader - Mentor Program

Team Leader – Program Mentor & Training
Team leaders can be the essence of an office team but can also be as destructive as they can be productive.  I am of course not suggesting this is the case with your team but it is as important to ensure that the team leaders are being motivated as well as the team. If a team leader is not motivated how can we expect them to motivate their team?

This type of training or rather mentoring  may not be required frequently, but one or two, one hour consulting sessions a month could prove invaluable. Ensuring that your team leaders are motivated in a way to be able to infuse that motivational spirit to the rest of their team is essential. This will also assist them to keep a clear focus on their team and understand that there is a huge difference between managing a team and leading a team.

Coaching and mentoring with support and direction will get you twice as far twice as fast as a big stick and orders. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep this focus in your head, especially in a market as unpredictable as ours.

These sessions can be as simple as a coffee and a sandwich, just giving your team leaders the opportunity to discuss any issues they may have or to discuss a particular member of staff in their team. Often this mentoring approach will take on a situational training style rather than planned subject content.

“I see myself as a coach rather than a trainer. I prefer the word coach rather than train because I believe they are similar in nature but very different in their delivery… A big difference between the two is that coaching is about having respect for someone’s already great abilities and helping them understand how they can enhance their skills to better their own successes” - Peter Martin
